TM301 Mic Pre with Monitor Mixer
Monitor Mixer Chain

Even though a monitor mix of a live recording is possible with almost any DAW system, many users prefer two have direct access to all functions and to be able to access the analog source signals. In case of problems, overload, strange effects and anything else that happens such a system makes it a lot easier to figure out what are the reasons for the problems.

In addition, the TM300 system includes in complete analog summing mixer with all the features that are included with the ToolMix8 unit. So the system can also be used for analog summing and mixing.

Monitor Input
The Monitor Input is electronically balanced and can handle levels of more than + 30 dBu. The MON switch selects if the input of the mixer chain is fed from the record output or the Mon input. A gain control with calibrated center detent and +/- 20 dB control range is included with the input section. The selected input signal is routed via the 'INSERT TO MON' switch to the input of the fader section, the PFL switch and the meter.

Monitor Insert
The insert the TM301 module is assigned to the record chain by default. The switch TO MON assigns the entire insert section to the monitor chain. So it is possible to use is in the monitor chain as well which is important if the monitor chain is used for mixing or playback.

Meter
A LED PPM with 5 LED's and a range from -20 dB to +20 dB that allows a rough level control is included with the TM301 unit. The meter reads the peak value in accordance with DIN45405 and is calibrated to 0 dB at + 6 dBu, which is European studio standard. Other 0 dB settings are possible by internal adjustment. The meter read the record output but can be switched over to the input of the monitor fader by the TO MON switch next to the meter. The calibrated input level of the monitor input can be used alternatively by internal jumper setting. With this setting, you always read the output of the track independent of the gain setting of the monitor input when the TO MON switch is pressed.

Fader, Pan, Cut
Both the rotary fader and the pan-pot have calibrated center detents. Setting all controls to the center position will mirror the level relations at the output of the D/A converters to the mix output. This feature is useful, if you are using the mixer for analog summing, since you can start exactly with the mix settings of the DAW. To maintain this principle, the pan pots operates with a center attenuation of 0 dB. The level of a particular channel is not changed on the way from the center position to this channel while the other channel is attenuated with a law that maintains pure direction control without changes of the loudness. You can therefore use a channel either in mono or as the left or right channel of a stereo pair, without the need to deal with center attenuation problems. The CUT switch mutes the entire channel but not the auxiliaries in pre fader mode and the PFL.

Aux
2 aux send are included. Each send has its own PRE switch and defaults to post fader.

PFL
PFL operates as usual and mixes the signal at the input of the fader into the PFL bus. The PFL system operates always in adding mode. With a TM311 master module, the headphone amplifiers can be automatically swtiched to the PFL master when a PFL switch is pressed.
